SO what happens now to all of the former contributions to the composting program? Has it become added to the other regular garbage for collection so will probably end up in rat populated heaps? What was the rational behind cutting the funding? Will New York City now have to purchase commercially produced product to replace the composted materials that were used in the maintenance of the city's parks and street trees

Thanks for this beautiful in depth story. It is such a tragedy. I composted with GrowNYC more than 10 years till I moved away.

NYC mayor Eric Adams is replacing our community compost program with curbside collection. Not only do few people participate in curbside, but scraps collected there are turned into a slurry and dumped in landfills! NONE of it is composted.

People, elections matter! Please put some energy into making sure Eric Adams is a one term mayor and gets retired in 2025.
